Tools for Lifelong Learning

Good Shepherd has very specific goals for our students. We want to give them the tools for lifelong learning! Introducing them to reading, writing, math, environment, classroom skills, social skills, and much more, takes even more tools.

Niki Amiss, one of our pre-K teachers who has been teaching with us for seven years, shares with us some of the tools she uses in her classroom to impart this foundation to her students. She describes how she uses songs, finger poems, and emotions to engage the children. She gets them pretending, counting, coloring, and playing games that support their learning. She uses flashcards, the felt board, and other hands-on tools to help them learn.

Another of our goals is to teach students to love learning. Mrs. Amiss’ students are blessed to have a teacher who not only teaches them the material they need to be successful, but has fun with them while they learn!
