A Home Away from Home

Good Shepherd school is blessed to have strong leadership at all three of our campuses. One of these leaders is Missy Moody. She is the Assistant Director at our Waynesboro campus. Her story is a great way to get to know GSS and our mission here.

Missy was working at Target Distribution when she applied at GSS. She was interested in the fact that one of the benefits for teachers at our school is free tuition, from nursery through 12th grade. Her son, Josh, had been struggling at public school, and it had become enough of a concern that she was looking at a career change. Her bright smile, sweet demeanor, and professional nature made her an easy hire for Joel Spencer, the Director of that campus. Josh, and her other child, Kaitlyn, became students in the learning center.

Josh and Kaitlyn both spent years at GSS and graduated. Josh graduated with honors and entered the military, and has had a very successful career in the Air Force. Kaitlyn started working for Good Shepherd after school and high school, and has stayed on as an integral member of our staff. Now Kaitlyn's son, Benny, runs around in the Explorer classroom where his mother works. Their whole family feels like part of the family here at GSS!

Missy started working in a variety of classrooms, and then spent a long stint as the Beginner Class head teacher. She was trained for each role as she took it on. She loves her current role as Assistant Director, especially because it allows her to welcome everyone into the school each day. She is an ardent believer in the Christian values that our students are being taught, and loves being able to impact children every day. She describes working at GSS as being at “home away from home.“ We are so thankful to have her ministering with us!
