A Different Approach

Some people are unaware that Good Shepherd is a not just a day care - we are also a private school! Good Shepherd offers a quality alternative for K-12 students that need a different approach to learning. We continue to use the A Beka curriculum in our Kindergartens, and then we use the ACE School of Tomorrow curriculum in our Learning Centers. Each Learning Center houses grades 1-12, each student in their own office, working on their own work, getting helping individually according to their own needs.

Joel Spencer is the principal of our K-12 program at our Waynesboro campus. His familiarity with ACE School of Tomorrow is based on many years of experience, having attended a school that used that curriculum elementary through high school. His career has also been with schools that use it as well, so that he has 40 years of experience with it. Joel loves the curriculum for a variety of reasons. Its self-paced approach is well suited for students that need extra time to work on concepts, or for students that would like to move through their learning faster. The curriculum does not hold them back, but allows everyone to work at their own pace. He also likes that it allows teachers to work individually with students on concepts when they need it. The curriculum also focuses on building character, independence, leadership, and a variety of other important life skills, including goal-setting, test taking, and paper writing.

The Learning Center is a friendly, laid back atmosphere where any child can succeed. Please contact us at our Neff Ave or Waynesboro campus with questions!
