Our Waynesboro and Neff Ave., Harrisonburg campuses hosted Keep Your Brain in Gear Summer Programs for children who were grade school age. Neff Ave. students have explored science themes, art themes, enjoyed a nature week, a pirate week and a dinosaur week. They have traveled to You Made It and created stained glass pieces, traveled to the JMU arboretum, the Explore More Children’s Museum and the JMU Planetarium. The students at our Waynesboro campus enjoyed weekly trips to the pool at Grand Caverns and to Ridgeview Park. Our summer teachers also kept their brains in gear with daily reading, writing, and math lessons as well as outside and inside cooperative play time.
The preschool students at all three of our Good Shepherd Campuses enjoyed special themed weeks, water days and activities that kept them busy during the day. We celebrated Christmas in July with cookie decorating, Christmas Carols and reading and hearing the Story of the Birth of Jesus. They learned about Dinosaurs, insects, camping and ocean life and shark week!
The students enjoyed painting, shaving cream creations, learning about other countries and trying family favorite and international foods. Our Waynesboro Campus hosted the Augusta County Public Library puppet show–a fun time by all! The kids (and staff) all enjoyed Tie-Dye day, pajama day and will enjoy a Disney Spirit week to end the summer!
With all of these fun things from summer, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for our school year! Thank you to all the teachers and staff who made our summer a wonderful experience for ALL of our students at Good Shepherd 1, 2, & 3.
