Exploring Our Campuses

Good Shepherd is blessed to have three campuses, designed for meeting the needs of our students. Today, we would like to highlight a special project that we have embarked on, one that will bring you closer to the heart of our program.

We are delighted to announce that we will be adding virtual tours of each Good Shepherd location to our website! This incredible endeavor will provide parents with a more in-depth look into our program and allow them, along with their children, to familiarize themselves with their potential classrooms. Our Assistant Directors have taken the lead on this project and will be guiding visitors through video tours, offering valuable insights into what to expect in the classroom environment.

Our Assistant Directors will be leading this project, taking visitors on a video tour and giving them an explanation of what to expect in the classroom. Erica Dove has done a great job with this project GSS1, at Chicago Avenue in Harrisonburg. Our other assistant directors will have their videos of GSS2, at Neff Ave in Harrisonburg, and GSS3 in Waynesboro, posted over the summer.

Allow us to introduce Erica Dove, who has done an outstanding job leading the way at our Good Shepherd Campus on Chicago Avenue in Harrisonburg (GSS1). Erica has put immense effort into showcasing the unique qualities of this campus, and we cannot wait for you to experience it virtually. Our other Assistant Directors are diligently working on their video tours, which will feature our Neff Avenue campus (GSS2) in Harrisonburg and our Waynesboro campus (GSS3).

In addition to our website, we will also be sharing these virtual tours on our Facebook page. This way, our current parents can enjoy the experience and share it with their friends, allowing them to witness firsthand the exceptional education and nurturing environment we provide here at Good Shepherd.

Welcome to Good Shepherd on Chicago Avenue, where Erica Dove invites you to take a tour of our facility. Our campus caters to children from six weeks old until they are ready for kindergarten. Let's explore some of the classrooms together.

First, we step into the Nursery Classroom, where we witness the rapid development of our little ones. From the early stages of barely holding their heads up to the exciting moment they take their first steps, we see their personalities flourish. Even at such a tender age, we begin nurturing their learning journey by introducing baby sign language, reading, and incorporating scripture into their daily experiences.

Next is the Toddler Class, where children have gained mobility and communication skills. Here, they engage in a more structured learning environment, participating in activities like flashcards, reading sessions, and songs. Outdoor playtime is also cherished, fostering their love for learning.

We then enter the Discovery Class, a vibrant space designed for our two-year-olds. In this classroom, we focus on essential skills such as potty training, fine motor skills, and recognizing shapes and colors. We also introduce them to letters, while their enthusiasm shines through as they conquer milestones like putting on their jackets with a playful technique called "the flips."

Finally, we reach the Beginner Classroom, where three-year-olds embark on their journey to kindergarten readiness. Reading circles, letter sounds, blending, and scriptural exploration shape their educational experience. Recently, they have immersed themselves in the wonders of under the sea, cultivating a love for marine life and nurturing their curiosity about the world.

In our Oldest Classroom, the pinnacle of our Good Shepherd journey, students' passion for learning takes flight. We prioritize instilling Christian values and ensuring they are well-prepared for kindergarten. Teaching them to read before they move on is a cherished goal shared across all three Good Shepherd locations.

We are proud to provide a nurturing and engaging environment where each child can thrive. Thank you for joining us on this tour of Good Shepherd on Chicago Avenue.
